Scott Hall Field of Dreams Youth Sports Complex to be one of the largest in Colorado and home to youth baseball, softball, soccer, rugby, lacrosse and football.

On Wednesday September 16, the Scott Hall Field of Dreams youth sports complex, a 70-acre project in Colorado Springs, located on Powers and US-83, in memory of local youth sports coach, Scott Hall, officially announced that they will break ground Summer 2016. Colorado Springs Mayor, John Suthers, was in attendance to show his support of the project.

Hall was a local coaching favorite and an active participant in the Colorado Springs sports community, who unexpectedly passed away in 2012. Hall spent countless hours coaching and mentoring Colorado Springs’ numerous youth sports.

This project will be built in two phases:

  • Phase I of Scott Hall Field of Dreams is set to open Fall 2016 and will be a 70 acre youth sports park with a mix of turf fields, baseball/softball diamonds, concession facilities, typical park amenities and restrooms.
  • Phase II, which is set to break ground in 2017, will include an indoor sports facility and additional ball fields.

Larry Ochs, who the plot of land is named after, was the former mayor of Colorado Springs. His grandson, Craig Ochs, is the Executive Director of the Scott Hall Field of Dreams project.

“It truly is an honor to be able to help preserve the legacy of a man like Scott,” said Ochs. “This project is important to me because we will be building the complex on Colorado Springs land named after my grandfather, a fellow sports lover… I can’t think of a better way to honor both of their legacies.”

Scott Hall Field of Dreams also announced that it will be the official home to Academy Little League.  “We are thrilled to be partnering with such a great organization,” said Tamee Lashlee, president of Academy Little League. “It will be fantastic to have a field that our players can call their own.”

Although Field of Dreams will primarily cater to local youth, the facility will eventually serve as a destination for national youth sports tournaments. Teams from around the U.S., mainly California, Texas and Oklahoma, will travel to Colorado Springs to compete in various sports.

In addition to partnering with Academy Little League, Scott Hall Field of Dreams will also serve a variety of other youth sports, including:

  • Grizzlies Rugby Club
  • Patriot Lacrosse
  • Pop Warner Football
  • Pride Soccer Club
  • Rush Soccer

The Scott Hall Field of Dreams board recently selected Colorado Springs based GE Johnson as the project’s general contractor to oversee the building of the site. HB&A will be their architectural partner responsible for designing the complex’s layout and producing renderings.

GE Johnson and HB&A will be the general contractors and architects on the “design-build”, which comes from the City of Colorado Springs’ Master Plan Process. The public will be given the opportunity to weigh in on the plan.

They have also partnered with Maxletics, a local company who will help assist the affiliated leagues with crucial fundraising for the project.

“We are honored to be working with these local firms and organizations,” said Executive Director, Craig Ochs. “They’re all based in the Springs and have a genuine understanding of our Colorado Springs community.”

Field of Dreams aims to be the premier youth sports complex in Colorado Springs, serving the entire community through traditional park facilities and amenities and catering to a variety of sports. More than 6,000 Southern Colorado youth athletes will benefit from the Field of Dreams, set to open Fall 2016.
